Grid Specialist / Grid Manager
Location: Frankfurt/Berlin/Hybrid, Germany

The Opportunity
The Grid Specialist will work within the Development department and together with the Land Acquisition and Project Development teams to develop large-scale solar PV projects. Further, the Grid Specialist will support the EPC department on realizing the grid connection.
Job Responsibilities
- Pro-actively and autonomously support large-scale solar PV projects through development and construction with respect to all grid related matters:
- Development Phase
- End-to-end management of the grid application process for Solar PV projects in the country.
- Establish relationships with grid stakeholders, public and private local grid network operators.
- Work with the Solar Project Development Team to identify suitable areas of (current/future) grid availability.
- Advise Project Developers with technical assistance throughout the development phase of the project.
- Support technical planning for the execution of the grid side of the project (mast replacement, construction of substation, etc.)
- EPC planning and Construction Phase
- Negotiate and finalize grid agreements and relevant permits for the solar PV project pipeline.
- Liaise with various stakeholders to technically optimize the grid connection arrangement to achieve the most efficient solution.
- Support in the commissioning of the equipment and coordination of the work of the network operator during processing.
- Work with the Power Sales / PPA Origination team to identify suitable locations for private wire projects
- Secure necessary agreements and permits for cable pooling, behind-the-meter private wire connections with power users, battery storage, electron to molecule conversion, etc.
- Be the Subject Matter Expert for the business regarding grid connection of medium and high voltage systems as well as medium-voltage lines, keeping abreast of policy changes and their applicability.

- Help to build a body of knowledge and continually drive the evolution of best practice to deliver a competitive edge.
- Create relationships within the renewable energy sector with a view to acquiring suitable projects at various stages of development.
- Report to senior management:
- Report regarding grid project status, progress, timeline, quality, feasibility, project risks and budgets.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc degree in electrical engineering (or similar).
- Proven track record in German grid experience, preferably within large scale renewable projects.
- Experience in the medium and high voltage range of the national supply grid.
- A thorough understanding of the transmission and distribution networks and the relevant grid connection application processes.
- A general understanding of the relevant planning processes.
- Existing contacts with one or more local network operators would be advantageous.
- Strong negotiation, influencing and commercial skills.
- IT literacy and familiarity with Microsoft applications, including MS Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in addition to GIS mapping tools such as Google Earth.
- Good team player but also able to work independently and proactively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge in network simulation software
- Fluent in German and good knowledge and use of English.
- In possession of a full driving license and willingness to travel on a regular basis within the country.
