Public Affairs Coordinator

Location: Netherlands, Utrecht
Work pattern: Full time - 40 hours/week

The Opportunity

The Public Affairs Coordinator in Ampyr Solar Europe Netherlands is responsible for managing and enhancing the public image of the company, engaging with key stakeholders, and advocating for policies and regulations that support the growth and adoption of solar energy. This role involves a combination of public relations, government relations, community engagement, and strategic communication to promote the benefits of solar energy and the Company's initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor proceedings and provide analysis of activities in the parliament, government departments, European institutions, political parties, local government, think tanks, pressure groups, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other bodies in order to keep the organisation informed of any developments related to our field of activity.
  • Monitor and analyse European, Hague and provincial political developments, debates, legislation reviews/proposals, committee enquiries, statements and reports.
  • Actively participate in industry associations such as Holland Solar; represent ASE in select committee hearings, party conferences and other events.
  • Research, forecast and evaluate the effects of public policy on the organisation using public sources, political intelligence and personal contacts.
  • Provide internal forecasts of the likely effect of public policy changes on the organisation.
  • Use the captured information and data to create threat and opportunities analysis to inspire and inform and assist management on the shaping of the strategy/direction of the organisation.
  • Work with the overall organisation to identify and provide project-specific solutions and opportunities.
  • Support the Development team with permit application process management with the aim to increase the number of permit applications and speed up the process to permit.
  • Lead on municipal affairs and consult the project teams on such matters (including participation and environmental management).
  • Content coordination of land acquisition analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or a similar role, preferably within the renewable energy or environmental sector.
  • Strong understanding of the solar industry and related policy and regulatory landscape.
  • Understanding of solar project development, permit processes, SDE process.
  • Understanding of Bibob, zienswijzen, handhavingsverzoeken procedures etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with public relations and social media tools.

AMPYR Solar Europe (ASE) was created in 2021 through the merger of NaGa Solar with the existing AMPYR Energy UK solar joint venture between AGP Group and Hartree Partners.
